Water Lily... Is a bit of a mystery in how this large pad of a plant can support 3 grown men flowing down a river and not submerge. And even though it replaces the need for a boat, you must ask yourself just how does this plant grow, and how does it feed? Because if it is just flowing down a river and not attached to anything as a pad, then where did it come from?
And the English Explorers who discovered it way back in 1801 in the Amazon jungle of South America in Brazil, are not telling us anything other than having first called it Giant Water Platter, than officially named it the Victorian Water Lily, after Queen Victoria. And the Gentleman whom History gave credit to, among the group was Mr. Thaddeus Haenke. Then in 1840, another specie of Water Lily was discovered down in Corrientes Argentina, and this one was named V. Cruziana in honor of General Santa Cruz of Bolivia. And this specie had a much higher rim and could grow at a much faster rate than it's counterpart. Also another Major difference is that the Water Lily from Brazil can only grow at water temperatures between 85 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit, while the one from Argentina can thrive at temperatures between 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
So if you wanted to import the Water Lily and have it grow in your backyard, then you would need to maintain those constant temperatures for either specie. Plus you would need at least a nice size lake, if not your own river since the Water Lily can grow easily to six feet in diameter, and that's for just one. And this great plant is unable to defend itself from the insects in the water that would just nibble at it, as well as poison it at time.s And so the Water Lily employs the help of birds, as a Win Win Situation for both. The giant water platter provides a platform for the birds to land and rest, and in turn they eat those insects as a treat. A great lesson of teamwork that you could learn from.
But as to the questions: How does it feed? And where did it come from? One would have to say that since water is the giver and bringer of life, and since the Water Lily leaves in water, then it has at it's disposal a colossal amount of rich nutrients to feed from. As well as the energy from the Sun. And it comes from the Creator God, who gave Mother Earth instructions to bring this plant forth, sustain it and protect it.
